This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Congo Zaire, Pygmy Dance, 1984 - In Mt. Hoyo, the pygmies put on this "Monkey Dance" for Gabrielle and I. It was my first introduction to the pygmies of Africa, of which there are many tribes.

PNG, Wabia Villagers Wave Goodbye, 1983 - After finding Wabia again by ourselves, Kellly and I rested and arranged for new guides to take us to Top Camp, a few days away on foot. Here, the Wabians wave goodbye. We virtually ran out of food on the way to Top Camp, having "pandanus pizza" the on the day before arrival.
DK, Greenland, Euro-American North Greenland Expedition Members, 2007, IMG_4295 - Every expedition has the requisite group photo. Here we stand with the Explorers Club flag. Left to right from this perspective, Holly Wenger, Dennis Schmitt (leader, holding flag), myself - Jeff Shea, Steve Kabala, John Richardson and Bob Mittleman.
Greenland, Constable Pynt, Liverpool Land, Chikka, 2006 -Chikka was the dog that protected Constable Pynt from bears. Constable Pynt is the airport that we flew into from Iceland and from there we flew by helicopter to Warming Island. In this photograph, Chikka follows me on a walk high up into the hills above Constable Pynt. Chikka was immediately likeable, everyone's best friend. This local dog, bred for sled-hauling, had an immense energy and was inspiring.
