This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Papua New Guinea, East New Britain, General of the Revolutionary Army of West Papua, Seth Rumkorem, 1983 - In Rabaul on the island of East New Britain in the country of Papua New Guinea, I met Seth Rumkorem and his men. They were the nucleus of the Revolutionary Army of West Papua. They had traveled across the ocean 800 miles in a motorized outrigger dugout canoe from Irian Jaya, Indonesia (i.e., West Papua) to seek political asylum. They asked me if I was a reporter. I fibbed and said I was. They gave me a copy of what was essentially their Declaration of Indepence, along with convincing evidence that their right of self-determination had been tampered with by the Indoneisan goverment.

Ireland, Leitrim Province, We Are All Ghosts In Time, 2008, IMG_5528CU1 - Photography is the relationship between time and light. If one views reality from the perspective of an open shutter, capturing everything at once with respect to a finite amount of time, but longer than our eye normally sees, then we are like ghosts, coming and going, and leaving ethereal traces of ourselves wherever we go.
Ecuador, Jeff Shea And Santo Domingo De Los Colorados Indians, 1979 - The Indians of Santo Domingo De Los Colorados had interesting customs, as is evidenced by the man's hair on the left. The Indians come to market in Otavalo, 129 km from Quito. This photograph was taken of me with the first camera I ever traveled with, a second-hand Kodak instamatic using 110 film. Twenty-seven years later, I scanned it and had it touched up.
