This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Japan, Hozanji Temple, 1991 - In my first visit to Japan, Megumi, a housewife whom I met at a train station, took me to Jewel Mountain Temple, Hozanji, in Ikoma, in the vicinity of Nara. The day was misty. When I saw this scene, I was overwhelmed by the beauty. I set my tripod at its maximum extension and took this color transparency with my 4x5 camera.
Madagascar, Lemur Mother and Young, 2003 - In ths photograph, a mother and her young look down on me, curious. They were shy, but their curiosity seemed at times stronger than their caution.

Afghanistan, Bakery, 2002 - This bakery was on a main street in Kabul. Customers shoved money through a small window and came away with delicious flat bread. The baker had a rough life; the oven was hot. I asked to come in to the raised baking area. My feet are at the bottom of the photo. I bought some bread and ate it with kebab sold nearby.

Madagascar, Cloud Capped Peak, 2003 - The scenery of Madagascar amazed me. These mountains captivated me with the cloud cover hovering at their crest.
Greenland, Constable Pynt, View From Plateau, 2006 - When we flew into Constable Pynt from Rekjavik, Iceland, I was surprised that it looked more like a desert than what I'd expected Greenland to be. In fact, this is an arid area, yet still, as the mountains across the channel show, covered in snow much of the time. The village of Illoqqqortoormiut (Scoresbysund) is reachable by an hour and a half away by speedboat.
Cambodia, Preah Vihear Prov, Hut
Egypt, Luxor Obelisk, 1984 - Obelisks originated in ancient Egypt, often used at the entrance to tombs and embellished with hieroglyphs. This fantastic example is in Luxor.
