This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Easter Island, Reed Ship and Moai at Anakena Beach, 1997 - In this photograph both the Moai and the reed vessel at Anakena beach in 1997 are visible. Easter Island was a place of mystery and deep feeling. My short experience there was deeply enhanced by my relationship with my Rapa Nuian lover. She was native Rapa Nuian and had a deep spirit.
Greenland, North Greenland Mountains, 2007 - The landscapes in North Greenland, as you can see, are marvelllous. For one thing, the air is clearer than any you might ever see elsewhere. One of the consequences of this is that things that look close may be quite far away. In fact, on our North Greenland Euro-American Expedition, most of the expedition was always in sight of a certain mountain range. No matter where we walked, it seemed - at least most of the time - it was visible. This photograph is taken quite near the most northerly land in the world. Here I am only a few kilometers from the sea ice near Kaffeklubben and Stray Dog West.

Indonesia, Pulsating Rock, 2005 - This is the most incredible thing I have ever seen. But trying to explain it to people, let alone convince them that this was nature in its rarest form, or magic, is likely to bring thoughts that I am naive. The white stone, dropped in water, became all these brilliant colors, pulsing with life from the inside out, illuminating the glass, seething like a magic cauldron. When taken out, it returned to white.
Congo Zaire, Colonel Ebeya Steamboat, 1984 - My girlfriend Gabrielle and I traveled by steamboat (the "Colonel Ebeya") down the Zaire (Congo) River in 1984. It was a eight day ride from Kisangani to Kinshasa. As the days went by, barges tied on to the main boat, creating a sort of convoy. It was a very interesting experience! I wrote, "The people sell and eat grubs on the boat. I saw two crocodiles on board as well. One man was skinning a monkey by singeing it?s hair and scraping."
