This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Seram, Cicada, 2006 - Of the cicadas in Seram, I wrote, "The sound of cicadas cutting the atmosphere in a continual shrill made me question what their purpose was, and I felt surprise at the notion that people are not more curious as to the ways animals and insects communicate. For my part, it is a certain fact that they indeed communicate in intricate ways, forging intellect into channels, atmospheres and realms that we cannot even imagine."
Seram, Suku Terasing, Lubai, 2006 - In Indonesian, the term "Suku Terasing" roughly means the "lost tribe." We waited for days to make contact with them. At first, they refused to allow photographs, but then they agreed to one. One turned into many. I was disappointed that they wore normal clothes. But there was something different about them. They lived away from contact with the government in north central Seram in the Seti area. I found out after a week there that the topographic maps available - the only ones I found were on the internet - were completely unreliable. Before I was allowed to communicate with this group, we had to have a ceremony of eating beetlenut.
Pacific Ocean, Flying Fish, 1982 - In 1982, I sailed with Boysie Day of Point Richmond, California across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco to New Guinea. This was my first great adventure. The ocean, I learned, was still a place of mystery in a world modern man pretended it had conquered and understood. For me, many mysterious and curious personal discoveries awaited. One was the flying fish. Although I had heard of the Flying Fish, I did not know if it was fact or fiction. On this day, one flew into the boat! When traveling across the ocean on a small sailing craft, flying fish can be seen exiting the water, flying fifty feet or more and returning to the deep blue. Once, in Honiara, fish flew into the back cabin of the Sugar Bear, Boysie's ketch, when a predator entered their school.

Seram, Suku Terasing, Zarah, 2006 - Zarah was one of the women that arrived with the Suku Terasing. There were about 15 people in all. The chief did not come. We were told it was because he had a bad leg. Zarah was the daughter of Mateus, a man that lived half in and half out of civilization. Mateus had married into the Suku Terasing. Zarah was a rather striking woman.
