This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Greenland, Warming Island, off coast of Liverpool Land, Tent After Storm And Pinnacles, 2006 - After the storm of Sept 8, 2006, the snowdrift reached the top of my vestibule (on the other side of this tent). The three pinnacles of Warming Island above the new strait were dusted with snow.
Tanzania, Jeff Shea With Guitar And Spilled Coffee, 1984 - Gabrielle took this photograph of me playing my guitar in our hotel room. Coffee must have spilled on me, as evidenced on my arm, but I seem undisturbed.

Uganda, Ruwenzori Mountains in Distance, 1984 - This shot was taken from near Ibanda, a village which serves as a portal to the Ruwenzori range (which is shown in the distance). We found guides in Ibanda to take us into the mountains. The guides were not motivated to go to the summit. This was partly, no doubt, because of a lack of equipment. We made it as far as Elena Hut at 4584 meters of elevation, still 535 meters from the summit (Pic Marguerite, at 5119 meters).
