This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Norway, Spitsbergen, Longyearbyen, 2000 - This is the settlement of Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen (Svalbard) off the far north coast of Norway. Spitsbergen is home to an immense amount of wildlife. I took this picture from the plateau above the village. I followed the local advice, which was to carry a gun, in the event of polar bears. A woman had been killed there by one some years earlier.

Papua New Guinea, Mendi Widow, 1983 - This woman, following the tradition of her Mendi people, put on 365 strands of kunai beads when her husband died. Each day she would remove one strand. Thus, her mourning would last one year, after which she would be free to marry again.

PH, Batangas Province, Mount Makiling, 2008, IMG_1662 r1 - This is Mount Makiling in Batangas province in the Philippines. I was in an office building at a meeting. I saw the clouds hanging over it. I excused myself and stood on a planter to get high enough to avoid the obstructions.

Nepal, Eden Hashish Centre, 1983 - This poster was made in 1973. I bought it in 1984. The Eden Hashish Shop was no longer in business, a casualty of a growing international consensus against marijuana. Still, in 1984 in Jaipur, India, marijuana, hashish and even opium were sold openly in the streets. I was told that the vendors of these materials were authorized by the government.
