This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

USA, CA, Stanislaus, Brown Bear Pass, 1986 - I still maintain that Stanislaus National Park, just north of Yosemite in California, is one of the most beautiful places in the world to walk. The landscape is similar to Yosemite in that there is a lot of granite, but it has a more gentle aspect, making it ideal for cross-country treks. Wildflowers abound in the Spring.

Tanzania, Threatened Elephants (Lake Manyara), 1984 - On my first visit to Lake Manyara in Tanzania, our landrover driver unwisely confronted a group of elephants against a wall. Threatened, they put their ears forward and bellowed a warning. On a subsequent trip to Africa, I heard about one man in a similar situation who was crushed in his car by an angry elephant.
