This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

San Blas, Portrait Of A Girl, 2000 - The San Blas Islands are off the east coast of Panama. This young woman was representative of the type of adornments that women uses. Note the nose ring through her septum. Across the bottom part of her breasts, she wears a mola. I have a theory about the molas. I believe that in ancient times, the molas were painted on bare breasts. I long to either find such women living naturally, or to recreate the scene in a photograph.
USA, San Francisco After A Storm, 2005 - There was a big storm. We ate our dinner out because there was no power in the house. When we came home, I marveled at this beautiful scene.
Malaysia, Melaka Prov, Lighted Houses, 2008 -
Cape Verde, Sal, Couple Walking, 2006 - On the way toward Monte Grande, this couple passed by some distance from me. The land in Sal is barren.
Greenland, Warming Island, off coast of Liverpool Land, Helicopter Drops Us Off Sept 6, 2006 - On Sept 6, 2006, the helicopter dropped us off on Warming Island, a new island formed by the melting of a glacial bridge that joined it to the mainland. The map showed it as part of Greenland. We camped and surveyed the island for six days.
Pacific Ocean, Looking Down On Deck, 1982 - This photo is taken from the boson's chair up the main mast on the Sugar Bear, the 43-foot ketch that I crewed on across the Pacific Ocean. We sailed this 41-foot Morgan Out Island 42 days, not including breaks in Hawaii and Kiribati, out of San Francisco?s Golden Gate to Honiara, Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. From there we sailed up the Solomon Island chain. We had a four or five person crew depending on the leg of the journey.

PH, Sultan Kudarat Province, Dudel, 2008, IMG_9280 - What is that? I asked. Doodle? It is made from rice, purple in color, and it is somewhat sweet and filling. It is sold, hanging like salamis, along the road south of Cotabato.
