This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

PH, Sungao Del Sur Province, Eatery, 2008, IMG_1320 - A night eatery grills pork and chicken on spurtling, smoking grill.
Tanzania, Cheetahs, 1984 - The day after I took this photograph, I heard from another traveler that these two cheetahs were still sitting next to their kill, reportedly unable to move. This photograph shows how full their belliies were.
Slovenia, Trnovska Vas Province, Barn Side, 2006 - What a beautiful barn! A fine combination of modern and old, art and practicality.
Mali, Bankas, Dogon Hut 1, 1987 - I came upon these two perfect little houses, used for grain. I took a photo of them individually, creating a diptych.
Papua New Guinea, Blue Weevil, 1983 - My guides brought this electric blue weevil to me. We were deep in the forest between Wava and Duranmin in the Highlands of New Guinea. How do I know this is a weevil? When I returned from my 26-month journey around the world, Boysie Day (the captain of the Sugar Bear), a professor of World Agriculture at UC Berkeley. saw my slide show and told me so.

Greenland, Greenland Prov, Liverpool Land, Swirling Brush, 2006 - Ruth Bernhard suggested I get closer to the level of my models, in this case a tiny, swirling brush. While Chikka the dog sniffed my pack for more trail mix, I lay down on the ground to see the brush as does an insect, at eye level, revealing a true wonder.
