This website illuminates my life and adventures. My longing for freedom has led me to over 2600 of the world’s 3978 provinces, to every country on earth and to the summit of the highest peak on each continent (thank heaven for good weather!). In my travels, I learned to respect the intelligence and ingenuity of people of all races and callings both past and present. Come see the world as I see it: as a peaceful place, full of nature and beauty. With the right spirit and intent, we can make our world a virtual Garden of Eden.

Day 12: Salar De Imilac, Camp 12, 2012 Chile, Antofagasta Province (Región)
USA, Alaska, Denali, Breaking Camp, 1993 - In 1993 I climbed Denali with Fred Zalokar and Sean Crow, both amazingly fit ultra marathon runners. Of course, they reached the top a day before me! Here, we break camp. You can read about my Denali climb in the Journal section of this website.
Greenland, Greenland Prov, Liverpool Land, Swirling Brush, 2006 - Ruth Bernhard suggested I get closer to the level of my models, in this case a tiny, swirling brush. While Chikka the dog sniffed my pack for more trail mix, I lay down on the ground to see the brush as does an insect, at eye level, revealing a true wonder.
Latvia, Bauskas Prov, Pole Sock -
Myanmar, Mon Prov, Golden Rock
UK, Northern Ireland, Derry Province, Choking On Oppression, 2008, IMG_5545CU1 - Going to Free Derry can be an emotional experience. One cannot help but be moved by the terrific fight the inhabitants put up in the quest for self-determination.
Jordan, Petra, 1984 - I visited Petra after spending a rather anxious weekend in an Aqaba jail for failure to have my passport. (My passport was being held at the Egyptian embassy, awaiting a visa.) I hitchhiked back to Amman, stopping in Petra on the way. Entire buildings are carved into rock cliffs. This building is known as The Treasury. Petra is reminiscent of Cappadocia to the north in Turkey.
Turkey, Mt Nemrud, 1984 - One of the most interesting historical sites I have seen is Mount Nemrud in central Turkey. One of the things that made is so fascinating was that it was out of the way, a place I had never heard of. Gigantic heads of Greek gods lay on the ground, fallen from their original position atop the stone bodies to which they belonged.
Taiwan, Ilan County Prov, Bay Cliff
Myanmar, Kayin Prov, Grape Fly
